Fila contributes to the splendour of the Petruzzelli Theatre. The Petruzzelli Theatre’s first season after its reopening will begin
with Giacomo Puccini’s “Turandot” on 6th December 2009 and end a year later with Vincenzo Bellini’s ‘Norma’. There will be a special event on 21st December, with Riccardo Muti conducting the Cherubini Youth Orchestra.
The Petruzzelli will be enjoying a truly emphatic reopening after its closure due to an arson attack in 1991 and the lengthy rebuilding works in which Fila products have played an important role.
Amongst the firms awarded the rebuilding contracts was MD Abrasivi, owned by the Fila surface treatment expert Diego Mizzi. His work involved:
- about 2,400 square metres of newly installed cement floor tiles;
- the restoration of about 300 metres of marble chip floor tiles dating from the first renovation project.
- about 100 metres of cement tiles dating from the early 20th century; these were in the foyer, the only zone to be partially saved
from the fire.
This highly prestigious project, which was rewarded with third prize in the “Treatment Fit for a King” awards (2008-2009), helped to bring one of the Apulia region’s most important gems back to its full splendour.
