Technical characteristics of the material:
Italian slate (also called Lavagna stone) is a natural sedimentary stone generally used for roofs and interior floors. It can also be found as a covering for small areas of flooring, stairs, tops and other interior sufaces.
Slate is typically black in colour, but green and multicolour versions are also sold. This kind of material has a large calcium carbonate content that makes it sensitive to acid-based washing products, which tend to turn the material grey. It is therefore better not to use acid detergents and great care should be taken to clean thoroughly during laying in order to leave the material as clean as possible.
