FILA Surface Care joins Amazon and Global Optimism’s Climate Pledge
FILA is excited to announce becoming a signatory of The Climate Pledge, a commitment to being net-zero carbon by 2040, hence meeting The Paris Agreement 10 years early. Co-founded in September 2019 by Amazon and Global Optimism, The Climate Pledge unites companies in a plight towards real global change. The time to act is now, and FILA, along with the other Climate Pledge signatories, willingly accept the challenge.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the United Nations body for assessing the science related to climate change, has stated that CO2 emissions must be cut in half by 2030 in order to seriously aim at keeping the global temperature rise below 1.5ºC and prevent the negative consequences that climate change can have on the planet and the human race.
The Climate Pledge signatories seize decarbonization as an opportunity rather than a burden, as a chance for innovation and modernization, as an evolution in the way we think, behave and work. According to The Climate Pledge website, “The signatories aim to work together to build new marketplaces for greener, lower emissions products and services, attract and scale the innovations that can cut operational emissions through energy use, transportation, packaging, and all aspects of operations, including the use of our products and services.”
FILA’s commitment to the environment is demonstrated through Fila Green Action. This umbrella program is a series of green initiatives that address its supply chain, from production to the use and disposal of its products. These initiatives are focused on ensuring that FILA products respect the qualities of the material being treated, the health of the applicator and the surrounding environment. A concrete example is the Fila Green Line, featuring a range of low and VOC-free (Volatile Organic Compounds) products with minimal environmental impact and eco-friendly packaging.
“Fila Solutions has always strived to represent an international standard of excellence in solutions for enhancing and extending the life of floors and surfaces in ceramic tile and natural stone,” said Francesco Pettenon, Fila Solutions CEO. “To achieve this objective, at FILA we believe it is fundamentally important to ensure a constant commitment to ethically sustainable development. This is why we are delighted to join The Climate Pledge and commit to being net-zero carbon by 2040.”
As of April 2021, more than 100 companies have signed The Climate Pledge, including Unilever, Verizon, Siemens, Microsoft, IBM, Best Buy, Colgate-Palmolive, Heineken, PepsiCo and Visa.
