Nestled in Barcelona's old town, the 5-star Ohla hotel is a newly renovated wonder. Just a short stroll from the city's historic Gothic Quarter, this former department store is often referred to as 'the hotel with eyes' due to the presence of a thousand ceramic eyes adorning its main facade, a remarkable creation by Frederic Amat and master ceramist Antoni Cumella.
The hotel features two exclusive restaurants on the ground floor, and on the eighth floor, guests can enjoy one of the city's finest solarium terraces. The rooftop pool, surrounded by glass walls, offers guests unparalleled views and is elegantly furnished with white leather loungers and cabanas.
Dedicated to promoting sustainable tourism, Ohla Barcelona has earned Biosphere Certification and is committed to achieving the goals outlined in the World Summit on Sustainable Development . Likewise, the hotel has implemented measures to reduce electricity and water consumption, sources all its food locally and seasonally, and prioritizes collaboration with eco-conscious suppliers.
FILA's intervention in this project consisted of the restoration and subsequent protection with a revitalizing effect of the entire pavement and interior and exterior cladding of black Calatorao marble . We carried out the treatment in 2 phases, both in the interior rooms of the hotel (restaurant, cafeteria, hallways, stairs and reception) and on the solarium terrace.
In the first phase, we performed a deep clean with the professional degreasing detergent PS87 PRO , an ideal natural or artificial stone product, as it eliminates layers of organic dirt, thus renewing old and high-traffic floors. After proper drying, in the second phase, STONEPLUS was applied, which penetrates deeply, protecting against atmospheric agents and organic stains while highlighting the tone of the material.
The product was left to act for about 10-12 minutes so that it penetrates well into the material. Next, to complete the treatment, the surface residue was removed to respect the stone's original texture.
