We are thrilled to share our highlights from the recent Clerkenwell Design Week (23-25 May), where we had the opportunity to participate in Solus Ceramics’ new showroom. During the event, we met with some of London's top architects and designers to discuss ecological surface care products. Our aim was to offer valuable insights into the fundamental aspects of our products, equipping them with the knowledge to create remarkable and sustainable spaces.

As we commemorate our 80th anniversary and embrace a new era of innovation, this year’s show held special significance for us. About CDW 2023

Held over three days, 23-25 May 2023, this long-awaited event offered a vibrant showcase of the latest interior design products. With over 200 exhibitors, 130 resident showrooms, and ten brand-new design destinations, this is the UK's premier design festival.

This year, the show invited attendees to discover established brand names and installations, as well as design-led events, workshops, and talks. From exploring the latest architectural trends to discovering emerging new talent, this year’s Clerkenwell Design Week offered an unparalleled opportunity to immerse oneself in the world of design and creativity.

Our recently acquired Indoor Air Comfort Gold accreditation

During the event, we had numerous engaging discussions, with one specific topic garnering significant attention - FILA's recent achievement of the Indoor Air Comfort Gold certification from Eurofins. In recent years, the importance of indoor air quality has become increasingly recognised, with many people now aware of the potential health risks associated with poor ventilation and high levels of pollutants in the air.

At the show, we provided a clear explanation of the significance behind Indoor Air Comfort Gold and how it validates that a product or material meets rigorous standards for indoor air quality. During our presentation, we also covered the certification process, the FILA products to which this coveted label applies, and our commitment towards environmental sustainability as a whole.

 

 

 

A presentation on our sustainable methods

When it comes to our production process, we follow strict protocols to conserve precious resources wherever we can. The Lunch and Learn session was focused on our ecological products and how they aid with healthy, sustainable spaces, alongside practical tips and an insight into our environmentally-friendly manufacturing methods.

For example, rainwater harvesting is effective in reducing water, and thanks to this resourceful process, we have reported a 15.93% decrease in rinse water on an annual basis. In addition, we place a strong emphasis on the use of eco-friendly materials, as well as the ethical management of waste and solar panels to generate clean, renewable energy.

 

 

A masterclass on materials, protection and maintenance

During the event, we also delved into the characteristics of different materials, like natural stone and showcased FILA’s cutting-edge microtechnology. Additionally, we discussed the importance of following technical data sheets and maintenance manuals to ensure the optimal performance of surface care products.

Likewise, we also touched on our state-of-the-art Innovation Centre, which serves as the hub of our Research and Development and Technical Departments. Engaging with a variety of specifiers and contractors was another highlight. This gave us a chance to explain how our collaborations with prestigious universities and research centres drive the development of our innovative products.
