Templemore Baths in Belfast, the last remaining Victorian public baths in Ireland, has undergone a spectacular £17 million renovation and expansion. Supported by a £12 million contribution from Belfast City Council and a generous £5 million grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, this project seamlessly combines preservation of its historical significance with modernity.

A noteworthy aspect of this renovation is the thoughtful restoration of the original building, now transformed into a captivating visitor centre. Here, the history of the baths unfolds, showing their historical significance, including the revival of features like the main pool and the old slipper baths.

The addition of a 28,000-square-foot extension has brought modern amenities to the newly restored Templemore Baths. It now includes a 25-metre, six-lane swimming pool, an 80-station gym, and spa facilities. This significant milestone is part of Belfast's £105 million Leisure Transformation Programme, enhancing the city's recreational infrastructure while preserving its rich history. As the sole survivor of its kind, this ambitious restoration project ensures that future generations can cherish and appreciate the architectural and cultural treasures of the past.

The pool itself showcased porcelain tiles provided by Carlanto, a trusted and luxury tile supplier. To ensure these tiles would retain their pristine appearance for the long term, they specified FILA products. This began with the use of DETERDEK PRO, a buffered acid solution, for the post-installation cleaning, ensuring that any construction residues were effectively removed. Following this crucial step, the contractor employed CR10, a specialised cleaner designed for epoxy residues, further enhancing the tile's longevity.

Maintaining the pristine appearance of swimming pool porcelain tiles is crucial, and CLEANER PRO is the recommended solution for general upkeep. Its key advantage lies in its versatility. This product can be used at various dilutions, tailored to the extent of dirt on the tiles. Whether a quick touch-up or a deeper clean, this pH-neutral cleaner simplifies the maintenance process, ensuring the tiles' enduring brilliance and preserving a hygienic pool environment for all visitors.

It has been a privilege for FILA to be part of the historic renovation at Templemore Baths, Ireland's last remaining Victorian public baths. As a company passionate about preserving old buildings, we're committed to extending the life of these architectural and cultural treasures for future generations.
