Villa Contarini – Piazzola sul Brenta, Padua (Italy)

Italy

Villa Contarini – Camerini in Piazzola sul Brenta (Padua) is a classic example of a baroque Venetian villa designed by Andrea Palladio around the end of the 1500s. The project is a rural villa subsequently embellished by a monumental portico still present in the piazza. Inside the villa there are priceless frescoes and marble works.
In this unique context, FILA has begun an important collaboration with the Veneto region involving the regular and special maintenance of the 6,000 square metres of indoor flooring realised in precious surface materials – such as Venetian terrazzo, encaustic cement tile, and wood – and the cleaning and sanitation of all areas open to visitors.

One of the main challenges of the project was treating surfaces of different time periods all in the same building: from terrazzo floors from the end of the 1500s/first half of the 1600s, to the decorative and permeable gravel floors from the beginning of the 20th century.
The degradation of an environment begins immediately after its realisation and the speed with which it degrades depends on natural and anthropogenic factors. The deterioration process is progressive and irreversible; the timing and types of impact differ depending on the type of material and the wear caused by human passage.

For regular maintenance, FILA recommended CLEANER PRO, a professional neutral cleaner that is not aggressive, does not leave a residue and provides excellent results without needing to rinse. To deep clean, degrease and remove the superficial layer of wax, FILA proposed PS87 PRO, an alkaline cleaner suitable for heavy duty cleaning unpolished natural materials. Subsequently, the floors were newly waxed with LONGLIFE, a water-based, self-polishing wax that protects the finish of the material, granting the surface a pleasant, polished effect.

SANIFAST, FILA’s new eco-friendly cleaner, was used for impeccable surface sanitation. Ideal for regular maintenance, the cleaner removes dirt, germs and bacteria from surfaces, even the most delicate. To spot-sanitise small surfaces, FILA’s RAPIDSAN eco-disinfectant spray is the best choice. It’s perfect for all those frequently touched surfaces that must be disinfected often during the day (kitchen worktops, cabinet doors, desks, handles, doors and accessories such as telephones).

FILA has always been a strategic partner of superintendence, public administrations and associations in the protection, renovation and safeguarding of the Italian heritage. Today more than ever, it’s fundamentally important to make museums, monuments and historic buildings places not only of extraordinary beauty, but also safe and thoroughly sanitised.
